Dear NLVPOA,
We thank
you for your overwhelming support for our son, Conner. Your donation was extremely generous and is
very much appreciated by all families affected by this disease. Our second year
of raising money to fund the research needed to find a cure for juvenile
diabetes was a great success. “Conner’s Cure Team” raised over $10,100. Conner had a great time at the walk and
everyone who joined us we appreciate your support, time and efforts.
We are
truly blessed to have family and friends as thoughtful and generous as you are.
We would like to send out a special thank you, for the people who went and
solicited additional donations from their family members, friends, neighbors,
co-workers, and classmates. Your
donation(s) will now be hard at work trying to find a cure for juvenile
diabetes.
We are
very excited about a new technology that has just hit the market for managing
diabetes. Within the next couple of months, we are hoping that Conner will be
able to wear a continuous blood glucose monitor. This monitor has been FDA
approved and we are now awaiting approval from our insurance. This monitor is a
secondary device that is attached to Conner’s stomach. This device communicates with his insulin
pump. This device will tell the insulin pump what Conner’s real time blood
glucose level is, without poking his tiny fingers ten times a day. The device also
alarms when blood sugar levels fluctuate too high or too low. This will help us keep Conner’s blood level
stabilized, and will give us fair warning when Conner’s levels are going up or
trending downward. This is still not a
cure, but it makes living with diabetes a little easier to deal with day to
day. We expect stem cell research to lead us to the cure we anxiously await in
the near future. This technology would
not have been possible without previous year’s donations.
We truly appreciate your kind and generous
donation(s), and hope you’ll continue to support future research. We are
looking forward to sending you an invitation to “Conner’s Cure Party” in the
near future.
With our sincere gratitude,
George,
Christina, Conner, Gavin and Joseph
