Only duly sworn personnel of the North Las Vegas Police Department (NLVPD), North Las Vegas Detention Center (NLVDC) and North Las Vegas Municipal Court Marshal, who are Peace Officers as designated under NRS 169.125 and NRS 286.061, may apply for membership.
When are General Membership Meetings?
All General Membership Meetings of this Association shall be held on the second Wednesday of each month at 5:00 pm. Unless otherwise directed, such meetings will be held at the NLVPOA Office/Community Services Building of the Police Department at 3425 W. Craig Road, in accordance with Article VII, Section 1, Paragraph A.
Are there any Benefits?
Members and their beneficiaries may enjoy the benefits of this Association upon the occurrence of the specific contingency entitling them to such benefits, in such amount or under such terms and conditions as are prescribed and provided in the bylaws.
What are the Membership dues?
The Association dues shall be $35.00 per payday. Dues will be payable by payroll deduction on each payday. Any members who does not pay their dues for a period of thirty (30) days without cause is delinquent and shall be excluded from all benefits of this Association.
What are the qualifications to become a board member?
To be eligible to become or remain President, a Director, or an Officer of this Association, a member must be: 1. In good standing with the Association. 2. A member for more than eighteen (18) months. 3. To be eligible to become the President, a member must be serving as an Executive Officer or an Officer of the Board of Directors at the time of nominations or must have served in that capacity within the last four (4) years.
What is a Grievance and How do I file it?
A grievance is defined as a complaint regarding working conditions, wages, benefits, departmental rules and regulations, or interpretation and application of current contact.
